At the closing session of the Degrees Global Forum 2025, Trisha Patel, a researcher from the University of Cape Town and member of the ACES Lab and ACIRH, received the inaugural Saleemul Huq Prize for the best early-career presentation from the Global South.
In her closing address, Trisha reflected on the complexity of studying SRM:
“SRM is not the kind of topic most people plan to spend their careers on, and frankly, it’s not the kind of climate option many of us wish needed to exist. But if we’re going to be having these conversations, I’m glad it’s happening like this.”
Her award celebrates the growing contributions of early-career African scientists in shaping the SRM dialogue — and underscores ACIR’s commitment to mentoring and empowering young researchers across the continent.
